Wedgewood Jasperware

Among the earliest designs in the 250-year history of Wedgwood, Jasperware was brought out by the founding father of the company, Josiah Wedgwood, in 1775, and has gathered a great following of collectors of both antique and recently designed objects of art.

Arguably, the most sought after pieces of Jasperware feature the famous Wedgwood blue color. Therefore, the products you see displayed below have been sorted to display this popular style. These pieces are all made available to you from the many different sellers on eBay. The displays are continually updating due to a live feed from eBay. The minute a seller/collector enters their item for bid it is displayed on this site and the item is taken down as soon as it has sold.

A type of unglazed, close-grained, and nonporous stoneware, Jasper was named for its resemblance in hardness to the stone jasper. The organic structure of this porcelain is lily-white upon startup and is then plunged into metallic oxide tinging agents to tone it to black or one of various lighter pastel colors--with periwinkle blue comprising the most recognizable by collectors.

Enlivened through Neoclassical styling and Greek and Roman mythology, the pattern method on Jasperware is hand-applied by craftspeople and has white cameo images and embellishment in bas-relief. These shaped ornamentations are fired straightaway onto every piece for toughness.
